Jane Iredale Retractable Brow Pencil Review
Finding the perfect, all-natural eyebrow pencil is harder than you think. I've always gravitated towards either extremely skinny eyebrow pencils like Anastasia's Brow Wiz or triangular eyebrow pencils like Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil. I'm sure almost everyone in the green beauty community has been on the hunt for cleaner alternatives to popular conventional eyebrow pencils. Luckily, Jane Iredale answered our prayers and created the new Retractable Brow Pencil that features an ultra-skinny tip to precisely define and fill in the brows! You don't know how excited I was when I unboxed this (spoiler alert: it's the same size as the Brow Wiz from Anastasia)!
I got the Jane Iredale Retractable Brow Pencil in the shade Dark Brunette which is their darkest shade. It's also available in two lighter shades. It contains 0.003 oz and retails for $20.
Ingredients: Diisostearyl Malate, Triethylhexanoin, C20-40 Acid, C20-40 Alcohols, Polyethylene, Synthetic Wax, Glyceryl Behenate/Eicosadioate, Ethylene/Propylene Copolymer, Ethylcellulose, Boron Nitride, VP/Eicosene Copolymer, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate. May Contain: Mica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Carmine (CI 75470), Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163)
First of all, can we all just appreciate the gorgeous packaging? The metallic, rose-gold finish is giving me all of the heart eyes! The packaging is also high-quality and the caps don't crack easily.
I appreciate the fact that it's retractable and has an ultra-fine point that remains skinny throughout daily usage.
The formulation of the eyebrow product itself is amazing: it doesn't feel waxy, it applies naturally, it fills in most eyebrows, and it lasts all day because it's waterproof (perfect for my oily skin). It's not dry where it's dragging the skin but also not overly creamy where it's melting into the skin either.
It's quite pricey since you only get 0.003 oz of product. I'll most likely have to repurchase often but a little goes a long way with this brow pencil.
The shade selection is super small! There's only 3 shades available and the one I have, Dark Brunette, is very warm toned. I also read online that the other shades are extremely warm toned as well. I hope they introduce more shade options including cooler shades.
The Honest Beauty's Brow Filler is automatic but thicker which makes it hard to get achieve precision. It's also way too waxy, making it hard to blend and look natural. The Honest Beauty Brow Filler contains more product at 0.01 oz for $15, making it a better deal, however, since it's so waxy, I find that the entire product only lasts me 4-6 weeks. Also the Honest Beauty Brow Filler doesn't last as long as Jane Iredale's.

The formulation is very comparable to Anastasia's Brow Wiz which also contains 0.003 oz of product but retails for $21. Both Anastasia and Jane Iredale's are retractable and super skinny.
Overall, this has been the best green beauty eyebrow pencil I've used! I highly recommend everyone trying this out, even if you're not interested in natural beauty products.
Have you guys tried this out yet? What are your thoughts?
