Easy Habits to Prevent Overeating
Happy October! I'm looking forward to the cooler weather now that summer is over! I'm also excited for the fall season and I even created a list of skincare and makeup items I'm planning to purchase for Cyber Monday (it's never too early, right?). Today I wanted to talk about eating habits that are not only beneficial for your health but also easy for you to implement in your day-to-day life. These habits have helped me from overeating and from gaining weight.
1. Drink a lot of water prior to your meal
I always make sure I drink a full glass of water before starting my meal. This will help you feel full faster and thus prevent you from eating more than necessary. Water is great for hydrating the skin and flushing toxins out of the body. I grew up drinking a lot of water prior to my deal because my mom always told me not to drink during a meal since it reduces your body's ability to breakdown food.
2. Eat slowly
Take the time to chew your food and enjoy the taste and texture of your food. Essentially, you want to eat mindfully and just focus on eating. Whenever I eat fast or multitask while eating, I find that I don't feel full and thus I eat more than necessary. I highly suggest putting away your phones and stop watching any videos while eating.
3. Reduce the portion of your dinner
Eat less for dinner since there's a short period of time your body has to digest the food you've eaten before you hop into bed. A general rule of thumb is that your biggest meal should be breakfast and your smallest meal should be dinner.
4. Try to eat multiple times a day
Eat multiple times throughout the day to boost your metabolism speed. You can try snacking or even reducing the portion of your typical meal and increase the amount of time you eat. Also, don't skip a meal! Your metabolism will slow down when you don't eat for a long period of time. Whenever I'm home all-day, I always eat small portions multiple times throughout the day and this includes snacks.
I hope these tips can help you! Let me know if you have any tips!
