Kaia Naturals Takesumi Detox Deodorant Review

Switching to a green, non-toxic deodorant is one of the hardest challenges for me and green beauty enthusiasts alike since everyone's body reacts differently to formulas and ingredients. Over the past year, I've been searching high and low for a baking soda-free, long-lasting, and weightless deodorant and I'm glad to say my quest is over. I've found the one—the Kaia Naturals Takesumi Detox Deodorant is all I've been searching for.

Takesumi is an activated bamboo charcoal that helps control odor and detoxification. It's meant to draw out years and years of toxins that our conventional deodorants left behind in our sweat glands. Kaia Naturals' website states that it will take about 2-4 weeks for the body to adjust and purge old bacteria, chemicals, and toxins. It also states that the deodorant controls odor all day.

The Kaia Naturals Takesumi Deodorants come in 3 different scents and retails for $21.

Propanediol, Aqua/water, Glycerin, Sodium Stearate, Saccharomyces Ferment, Aloe (Aloe Barbadensis) Leaf Juice, Sodium Benzoate, Caprylhydroaxamic Acid (Amino Acid), Caprylyl Glycol, Magnesium Hydroxide (Milk of Magnesia), Allantoin, Charcoal Powder

I've been using the Takesumi Deodorant in Cold Pressed Rose since September of this year. Prior to using this, I was quite satisfied with the Zabana Essentials Deodorant Stick which is also free of baking soda. It took a little over a month for my body to completely purge and detox when I first started using the Takesumi Deodorant which worried me at first but a lot of people online also said it took awhile for their body to adjust to the deodorant.

I love how the Cold Pressed Rose smells! It's refreshing, light, and girly. It kind of smells like soap. The scent is really light and will fade within 5 minutes of application. The Lime Mint (which I bought for my boyfriend) smells very minty and fresh and will also fade within 5 minutes of application. Both scents are suitable for men and women.

I love the lightweight, gel texture of the deodorant and how smoothly it applies onto the skin. Most deodorants have a thick, creamy texture but not this one! Once applying this deodorant, you'll feel as if you didn't put anything on. Plus, it doesn't cause any irritation.

Some other things I like about this deodorant are the fact that it doesn't melt when it gets really hot and that it goes on clear without staining any clothes.

I live in the Los Angeles county area so the temperatures here in the summer and fall has been quite hot. I'm talking low 80's to high 90's. Also, I'm usually walking around a lot when I'm on campus. With that being said, the deodorant didn't last all day for me so I did have to reapply.

Now that it's getting colder, the product takes more effort to apply onto the skin but still functions well in terms of controlling odor.

Overall, I love this deodorant! My boyfriend, who has been using it for about 3 weeks now, also loves this stuff because it doesn't feel icky.
