Zabana Essentials Clay Facial Blemish Drying Lotion Review
The Zabana Essentials Clay Facial Blemish Drying Lotion, which retails for $15, is supposed to help reduce redness, inflammation, and irritation while detoxing troubled skin. To apply, dip a cotton swab and apply directly to skin troubles (just like the Mario Badescu and Kate Somerville drying lotions)!
Ingredients: Distilled Water, *Hamamelis (Witch Hazel) Virginiana Extract, French Green Clay, *Vegetable Glycerin, *Maranta (Arrowroot) Arundinacea Powder, Zinc Oxide, Essential Oils *Organic
The infused essential oils include tea tree, clary sage, lavender, and grapefruit.
- Tea tree fights acne-causing bacteria.
- Clary sage helps regulate sebum production, tones the skin, and reduces inflammation.
- Lavender fights acne-causing bacteria, reduces inflammation, and firms the skin as it increases blood circulation.
- Grapefruit balances oils and fights acne.
- French green clay helps detoxify and draw out dirt, toxins, and oil-build up and minimize pore size.
Pros
Besides its minimal, non-toxic ingredients and amazingly refreshing scent, this drying lotion has really helped minimize and calm my acne. It also doesn't dry out my combination skin, even on my dry patches. Plus, it doesn't contain any alcohol.
The packaging and bottle are well made so it doesn't leak when traveling.
Cons
I feel that the water to clay ratio is a bit off. When I apply it, it dries quickly and flakes if I move my facial muscles. When I wear it to sleep and wake up the next morning, there are little to no traces of the drying lotion on my face! I never had a problem like that with the drying lotions I've used in the past. That's why I like to take advantage and use this product when I'm not sleeping!
Overall, I highly recommend this product to those who are struggling with angry, inflamed acne. It's great for all skin types, too.
What are your thoughts on drying lotions?
*Update 1/7/17: I found out that this contains glycerin, coconut-derived ingredient, which causes me to break out. If you are allergic to coconut ingredients, avoid this.
