Fig and Yarrow Red Clay Mask Review
I recently found out that coconut-derived ingredients such as stearate acid, glycerin, and capric triglyercide (just to name a few) have been causing my skin to breakout and to dry out, leaving my skin with a weird, dry texture. I also found this list that rates how comedogenic/pore clogging different types of oils and waxes are.
With that being said, I became more careful with the skincare products I use and carefully monitored the ingredients that went on my skin. I also used the Fig and Yarrow Red Clay Mask (retails for $18) on a daily basis to help ease my acne.
Ingredients: Kaolinite (Moroccan Red Clay), Solum Fullonum (Fuller’s Earth Clay), Bentonite (Clay), Essential Oil of Cananga Odorata (Ylang Ylang)
Fig and Yarrow has 6 different types of clay masks and I decided to go with the Red clay mask because it's meant for oily, combo skin. It's meant to help balance oiliness and detoxify the skin. It's also suppose to help increase radiance and stimulate circulation.
I've been using this for 5-10 minutes daily and really enjoy the results. I add a bit of water (I usually just wing it) and apply it directly to my face with a foundation brush.
- Reduces the inflammation of my acne breakouts
- Doesn't dry out my skin (it won't leave your skin tight and dry even if you have drier skin)
- Can be used on a daily basis
- Contains exfoliating bits so it can be used as an exfoliate
- Makes my skin feel soft
- My skin looks brighter
- The jar will last super long (I've been using it so much and I still half a jar left)
- Has a weird scent
As you can probably tell, I absolute love this clay mask and I highly recommend it to those who are suffering from acne! I'm going to try mixing it with some essential oils and maybe use a toner or some rose water as the base. I definitely want to try out the other 5 clay masks that Fig and Yarrow offers.
